Bags were packed this morning for our 2 PM flight to Kauai on Aloha Airlines. Before leaving Oahu I spent a couple of hours shopping at the marketplace and located pendants with coral stones for the girls. I purchased a teriyaki burger which I took back to my balcony, and enjoyed the last views of Waikiki before boarding our airport bus at 12:30.

A short wait for our flight out of Honolulu allowed us time for a piña colada at the airport bar, and we were off for our second island.

After a 20 minute flight we boarded our waiting bus which took us directly to our next scenic wonder, a cruise up the Wailua River to the Cave of the Fern Grotto. It was there that the wedding in Elvis Presley‘s film “Blue Hawaii” was filmed. Our group was the last tour of the day and on our return we saw one of the brides that was to go up river and be married at 4 PM at the famous Grotto.

A very short bus ride took us to our second hotel and a room on the ground level this time around, with coconuts hanging over my lanai and the ocean beyond. A message waited for me to call Marilyn at her hotel, but it was too late for me to dress and join them for their early dinner reservations. After settling in, I took a walk out to the beach and then a quick stroll through the marketplace adjoining our hotel. I picked up a bottle of wine and a couple of tags for the refrigerator, then headed for the hotel restaurant for a delicious mahi-mahi fish dinner. And very shortly afterwards, by way of the moonlit beach, off to dreamland.
